The NGO Creacting India is a cultural center based in Bodhgaya, India. The project offers free dance and theater classes for young people and adults, regardless of caste, religion, gender, or income. Over time, we became a vital social space for the local community. Theater and dance are used as tools for personal development, social awareness, and community building. The programs encourage physical and emotional expression, self-confidence, and creativity, while also addressing important social issues such as gender equality, environmental protection, and mental health.

Participants come from nearby villages and neighborhoods in Bodhgaya, with most of them coming from disadvantaged backgrounds. Many have limited access to education or creative spaces, as Creacting India is the only cultural center within a 100-kilometer radius.

In April 2025 we lost our cultural center – the core space of our work. For many young people, the loss of this space means losing a place where they could learn, express themselves, and experience community in a supportive environment.

We are currently operating in a temporary hall that comes with many challenges: it is hard to reach, poorly ventilated, located in an unsafe area, and too small for our group activities. These conditions significantly affect the young participants. Many of them felt a strong connection to the original center, which was not only a place of cultural learning but also a space that offered care, basic support, and a sense of belonging.

This makes it all the more urgent to create a new, stable perspective. Our goal is to rebuild a space where young people can grow – a place that combines creative education, emotional development, and social safety. Dance and theater not only offer opportunities for expression, but also real professional prospects – for example through dance training that can lead to income and employment, even for those without formal schooling.

We already have a suitable piece of land in sight, located in a safe and accessible area, and an initial building concept has been developed. However, to make this new place of hope, creativity, and care a reality, we rely on financial support.

Only together with partners, supporters, and donors can we create this urgently needed space – for the youth of Bodhgaya and for generations to come.
